Sudden doctor’s stoppage leads to PFL Africa featherweight tournament title for Wasi Adeshina

Alain Majorique is a kung-fu and submission grappling specialist who claimed featherweight gold on the amateur circuit. He enters 6-0 as a pro, including a bantamweight title on the regional circuit. He reached tonight’s title fight with a win over Mohamed Camara in October.

Wasi Adeshina is a kickboxing specialist who considers himself an all-around fighter. He enters tonight with victories in his last five and nine of his last ten. Adeshina reached tonight’s final with wins over Jean-Jacques Lubaya and Dwight Joseph.

The first PFL Africa tournament title to be awarded will be at featherweight! Who will claim it?

Round 1

We’re in the center. Low kick flashed by Adeshina. Ref calls for action just 15 seconds in. Adeshina flashes a spinning kick. Ref calls for more action. Low kick by Majorique. Another high kick flash from Adeshina. Low kicks from Adeshina. Majorique responds in kind. Majorique with a right hand catching Adeshina coming in. Adeshina is still on the front foot. Jab to the body by Majorique. Right hand by Adeshina. Low kick by Majorique. Right hand by Adeshina. Adeshina blocks a kick. Adeshina catches another kick.

Majorique comes in, but Adeshina cliches him briefly. Right hand by Majorique. Outside leg kick by Majorique. Adeshina looks to cut off the SmartCage. Strong right hand lands for both men. Low kicks from both men to start the round. Hand feints from both men. Adeshina with a couple of low kicks. A couple of leg kicks from Adeshina. Majorique pressuring Adeshina. Strong right hand by Majorique. Low kick by Adeshina. Right hand by Majorique. Majorique lands to the body. Another strong right hand from Majorique! Adeshina responds in kind, however. We’re back in the center. Adeshina with a jab. Low kick by Adeshina. Front kick by Adeshina. Left hand by Adeshina.

Round kick to the body by Adeshina. Adeshina looking for a pair of right hooks. Majorique continues to pressure him toward the fence. Majorique shoots for a takedown. Adeshina looking for a kimura lock while standing. The ref calls time, and it looks like the doctor is being brought in to look at the cut of Majorique. Majorique is saying he’s okay. But the doctor says no! He says he doesn’t like how the cut is positioned and how the blood is dripping. WOW!!!

Some slight controversy here in the first PFL Africa tournament title fight; nevertheless, the doctor’s say is final. Wasi Adeshina has scored the tournament title at featherweight!
