Logan Storley has quite the wrestling background, having been a six-time high school state champion before becoming a four-time NCAA Division-I All-American at the University of Minnesota. Storley had a noteworthy run in Bellator, going 10-2 while defeating Neiman Gracie and Michael “Venom” Page, the latter of which saw him become interim Bellator Welterweight World Champion. The Kill Cliff FC product has won three of his last four, defeating Joseph Luciano in a first-round tournament fight in April.

 

Masayuki Kikuiri has gone from learning how to kickbox at 16 to defend himself, to using his expertise to find himself in this major opportunity tonight. Kikuiri, a former interim welterweight champion in Japan, also holds a blue belt in jiu-jitsu and takes pride in what he calls his “Samurai Spirit.” He has won seven of his last eight and defeated Giannis Bachar in their First Round battle this past April.

Storley moving around the outside. Storley shoots in, and Kikuiri avoids it. Left hand by Storley. Storley shoots him into the fence and he scores his first takedown quickly. Storley gets on top of Kikuiri’s hips as Kikuiri loses wrist control. Storley may be looking for a mount already. Storley tries to scramble. Storley lands some hard elbows from the top. Storley with some ground-and-pound with the right hand. Storley is pouring it on.

 

Kikuiri works his way to his feet, but Storley continues the merciless pressure. Storley locks up Kikuiri again and brings him back down to the ground. Storley getting near mount again. Kikuiri stuffs a takedown attempt. Storley with a second effort, but it’s not keeping Kikuiri grounded. Storley grabs a leg and brings Kikuiri back to the mat. Storley with a hold of Kikuiri’s back as Kikuiri gets back to his feet. Storley delivers a couple of knees to the legs before the horn.

 

 

Round 3

 

One-two from Storley. Jabs from both men being exchanged. One-two from Kikuiri. Storley returns fire. Kikuiri with a left hand. Storley shoots in and brings Kikuiri back down. Storley with some right hands. Storley tries to work his way into mount, pinning down one of Kikuiri’s legs and making use of shoulder pressure. Storley with a few right hands.

 

 

Storley has Kikuiri’s legs down and pinning him against the fence. Right hand by Storley. Storley keeps pressure and lands some punches to the head, while Kikuiri tries to use the fence to get up. Kikuiri appears to be getting to his feet – only to be mat returned by Storley. Kikuiri works his way back to his feet, but it’s too late.
