Beginning his martial arts journey at 5, Asael Adjoudj has become accomplished in the disciplines of karate, kickboxing, and Muay Thai before joining MMA. An SBG Ireland product, Adjoudj lost his professional MMA debut but has not lost since. He comes into this bout off a submission win over Jose Perez at the PFL World Championships last November.

 

Yves Landu was originally a breakdancer before picking up wrestling at 19 and becoming an MMA fighter at 25. Landu is a BJJ purple belt and French grappling champion, with 10 finishes to his name. Landu has won six of his last seven, including a win over Jonas Bilharinho in Paris in May 2024.

 

Which of these two will come out on top in this featherweight showcase?

 

 

Round 1

 

Low kicks from Landu. Another low kick from Adjoudj. Another low kick from Adjoudj. And another. High kick lands for Adjoudj. That’s followed by another low side kick. One-two by Adjoudj. Adjoudj flashes a high kick. Body kick by Landu, but it briefly takes him off balance. Low side kick by Adjoudj. Landu goes in for a takedown, but Adjoudj controls the body lock and brings Landu to the fence. Adjoudj perfectly times a takedown attempt and gets it.

 

Landu looks to do something with butterfly hooks. Adjoudj lands some ground strikes, as Landu tries to get to the fence to sit up. Looks like a battle for wrist control. Adjoudj attacks the neck, but he’s unable to get the choke as Landyu backs up and returns to his feet. Strong body kick by Adjoudj. Landu stumbles forward as he tries to flurry, but Adjoudj backs away. Adjoudj misses the spinning hook kick. Adjoudj presses Landu into the fence again. Adjoudj with a takedown before the bell.

 

 

Round 2

 

Some trading to start the round. Landu comes forward but misses the body kick. Right hand by Landu, but he’s tossed to the ground by Adjoudj. Right and a left from the top by Adjoudj. Adjoudj landing strikes from the top, and Landu is trying to answer from the bottom while keeping his guard up. Elbows by Adjoudj. Landu could be thinking about using a kimura.

 

Landu struggling to get away from the pressure of Adjoudj. Adjoudj seems to be getting to Landu’s back while Landu looks to get back to his feet. Landu does so, but he’s still in Adjoudj’s grasp…and Adjoudj takes him right back down. A couple of left hands from Landu as he’s pressed on the ground right by the fence again. Round 3

 

Landu with a jab. Landu continues to come forward, but he’s lunging. Jump knee attempt by Landu. Low kick by Adjoudj. Adjoudj misses a body kick. Body kick by Landu. Landu with another, but Adjoudj counters it. Landu presses Adjoudj to the fence for a takedown attempt. Adjoudj jumps for the guilly…and Landu gets him down. Landu landing some soft left hands. Landu lands a couple of elbows up top. Landu picking up intensity and volume now, resulting in a heavy barrage from up top. Landu lands a couple of strong elbows.

 

Landu continues to wail away. Arm-triangle attempt is unsuccessful, and Landu pours on some hammerfists. The volume falls as Adjoudj tries to neutralize the offense. More hammerfists from Landu after a brief timeout. An elbow from Landu. Adjoudj lands some elbows from the bottom. Big left hand by Landu. Right hand by Landu. More volume from Landu. Adjoudj throws his legs over and gets a triangle choke in! Landu tries to roll out, but Adjoudj has it tight! Adjoudj switches to an armbar attempt but it’s too late.
