Brent Primus was a longtime veteran of the Bellator cage, going 10-3 and having one reign as the promotion’s Lightweight World Champion. Primus, who has a wrestling base, transitioned into training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, earning a second-degree black belt. After losing in last year’s Lightweight World Championship bout against Gadzhi Rabadanov, Primus made it to tonight’s Semifinals with a submission of Vinicius Cenci.

 

Alfie Davis is a former kickboxing champion who also picked up gold on the regional MMA scene. Fighting out of the London Shootfighters camp, Davis went 8-1-1 in Bellator. In April, Davis shook the PFL world up by knocking out Clay Collard to clinch a Semifinals spot.

Davis with a low kick to start as they feel each other out. Primus charges and scores a takedown, though Davis gets up quickly. Davis shows the knee and throws the left. One-two from Primus. Left hand from Davis is blocked. Davis with a front kick. Primus presses again, getting Davis into the fence. Davis has double underhooks. Primus pulls guard. Primus looks for a rubber guard. Davis looks to stand and get around Primus’ guard but he ends up back there.

 

Primus looks for a rubber guard again. Is he looking for a triangle choke? Gogoplata attempt! Now Primus switches to the Omoplata! Davis is trying to defend against it. Primus turns and scrambles into top position. Primus looking for full mount. Primus landing left hands from up top. Primus tries to get over the guard of Davis, but no go. Left hand from Davis. And another. Davis tags Primus with a check hook and Primus briefly goes down! Primus goes for a leg, but Davis resists his efforts! Primus with a right hand. One-two from Davis. Front kick from Davis. Davis avoids the right hand. Left hand from Davis. Primus shoots in, but Davis stuffs the attempt. Davis lands more strikes, mixing in another dance move. Left hook from Primus! Primus throws an elbow and Davis goes off balance – and Primus dumps him to the mat! Primus is now in three-quarters mount. Primus with a couple of right hands.

 

Now Primus gets into full mount. High mount now. Davis tries a hip escape but can’t get it. Davis tries to escape from the back, but Primus scrambles to get into side control. Elbow from Davis to the head of Primus. Davis tries to scramble. Primus keeping Davis down. More elbows from Davis. Davis gets into the guard and might be looking to ground and pound. He’s got to deal with Primus’s guard, however. Davis with some strong hammerfists. Elbow from Davis. Davis with a couple of more shots.
